Commercial Ice Machines in Kansas City, Overland Park, and Shawnee, KS
For years, Capital Equipment has been the greater Kansas City area’s commercial ice machine experts and our goal is and always has been to help educate our customers to make sure that they have the right ice equipment for their businesses.
What are the best commercial ice machines?
There are quite literally hundreds of ice machine manufacturers with new ones popping up each year but the problem is that many of them aren’t built for the long haul and when you have an obscure brand, replacement parts can be hard to come by. At Capital Equipment, we recommend well known and well established commercial ice machine brands that have a proven history of being reliable and for making the highest quality ice. Capital Equipment recommends Hoshizaki, Scotsman, Manitowoc, and Ice-O-Matic ice machines as they have proved to be durable and reliable for years for all types of businesses.
How often should ice machines be cleaned and sanitized?
Many commercial ice machine manufacturers have different recommendations but overall a good rule of thumb would be about every 3 months. However, larger ice machines that see more individuals using them and thousands of pounds of ice produced may need to be cleaned more frequently. Particularly with COVID-19 continuing to spread, cleaning and sanitizing commercial ice machines should be much more frequently especially if a large number of people are coming in contact with the equipment. Also, when a boil order is issued for the city where your business is located it’s generally a good idea to clean and sanitize your commercial ice machines as well as change the water filter.
How often should the water filter be changed on a commercial ice machine?
As stated above, it is highly recommended that water filters be changed immediately if a boil order has been issued in your area but under normal circumstances most commercial ice machine manufacturers recommend every six months but equipment that is in heavily use may require more frequent changeouts. It’s best to make sure that water filters are changed out on a predetermined schedule to ensure quality, clean ice otherwise it may begin to taste funny which is not good for any business.
